Course description

Accounting is the collection, measurement and communicationof economic information which is used for planning, reporting anddecision making.

This degree consists of core and elective subjects that allow students to meet the requirementsfor professional industry accreditation. The professional accounting sequence meets the tertiaryeducation requirements of CPA Australia for ‘CPA ’ status, the Institute of Chartered Accountantsin Australia (ICAA ) for ‘CA’ status and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA ) for ‘PNA’ status. Itprovides an excellent foundation for a range of accounting-based careers.

This program provides an excellent foundation for a range of accounting based careers andsatisfies the requirements for entry into professional associations, Certified Practising Accountants(CPA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA).Students will develop an ability to think strategically and work independently, whilst improvingtheir business, leadership and communication skills.

HSC Mathematics is assumed knowledge. Students can study a first-year mathematics subjectto acquire the assumed knowledge.
